Dog treat recipe

At Camp Kindness on Friday we had a man from the Three Dog Bakery come to help us make dog treats.  The treats are made of all natural human ingredients.  (All the kids got to try one.  So, I have eaten a dog treat!)

My dog, Charlie, really liked these dog treats.  Here's the recipe if you want to make some for your dog.

Labrador Love Bites
2 1/2 cups flour
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons carob powder
1/2 cup honey
1/2 canola oil
2 large eggs
3/4 cup unsweeted applesauce
1/2 carob chips  (You can buy carob powder and chips in the health section of stores.)

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.  Grease three 12-cup mini muffin pans with nonstick spray.

Stir together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and carob powder.  In a different bowl, whisk together the honey and oil.  Then, add the eggs and the applesauce.  Whisk together well.  Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until moistened.

Fill the muffin cups 2/3 full.  Sprinkle the carob chips on top and bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Cool to room temperature before serving to your dog.  Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.

  1. Jacob - you must have had a great time at camp at the Humane Society. You"re have to tell me all about it. I'm glad Charlie likes the dog treats. Grandma Swartz

  2. These treats sound great! I think I will make some to give as gifts to my friends' dogs.
